Yesterday I upgraded from a gtx 960 to a gtx 970. Yes I know the 1070 is coming out soon, but I got a really good deal. I was able to return my gtx 960 for store credit and only spend 120ish out of pocket. It was only 270 dollars for the zotec 970 (the other 970s were like 50 dollars more expensive and all had 60 not 30 dollar warentys because they were over 300 dollars)and I got a warenty for 30 dollars so i can return it for the 1070 in 6 or so months when I can afford it (the 1070 is go a be about 380 dollars when released and items over 300 dollars at mocrocenter cost 60 dollars for a warenty not 30 for items under 300) so you think buying a 970 so late at the price I got was a good or bad thing considering the 1070 would have cost me 140 more dollars than the 970 I just got and I can return my 970 when I have the money I can return my 970 and buy the 1070.

Its a worthwhile upgrade from a 970, its up to you if the cost was worth it though.
270 bucks is a pretty good deal, depending on the card.
However, since you paid for a warranty (which you didnt need to, manufacturer warranties are probably longer anyway), you ended up paying more than retail for the 970.

definitely a waste of money. you spent $270 on a 970. then there is the money from selling the 960. Easily enough money for a 1070 which is 2x the performance of the 970

ive seen brand new 970s going on sale for as low as $220. $270 is nothing

I got my 960 over a year ago, I got 200 dollars store credit yesterday for returning it and used that plus some of my own money to buy the 270 dollar zotec 970(the other 970s from msi, gigabyte ect were all like 330ish dollars and items over 300 dollars cost 60 instead of 30 dollars to get a warranty on so the zotec was the obvious choice because I was saving like 80-90 dollars) and I bought the same warranty I did with the 960 on my 970 and im gona do the same thing in a few months to a year or so to get the 1070. considering I only loose 30 dollars because the warranty do you think it was a good buy because I wont have enough for the 1070 in the month or so when the aftermarket ones become available. its also way cheaper than the 1070, the 1070 will cost 380 when its released plus the 60 dollar warranty for products over 300 dollars. the 1070 is supposed to be 50-60 percent better performance based on that benchmark, the 1070 will cost 440-450 with the warranty, the 970 I got cost 300 with the warranty. so price performance there is pretty close, 1070 a little ahead in this scenario. so considering that, do you think it was a good buy?

Where do you live that requires you need to purchase a warranty? Here you're automatically covered under consumer law

its like an extra warranty, it guarantees full refund in the form of store credit if you don't like it for any reason or its breaks within 2 years. It automatically comes with a warranty but I got the one you pay money for so I could upgrade every so often by trading my card in for store credit.
