Hello,

Some context

The laptop with said drive in it, Windows 8.1 incase you're wondering, started to display errors saying my harddrive might fail soon. This had happened after I had installed a game, after uninstalling the game the problem persisted. This continues for a few days until one day when I had opened a game the laptop simply freezes, nothing was responding.

The problem

I wait 15 minutes for it, still nothing. I therefore turn off the the computer, and turn it on again. It's an Acer so it has that circling loading thing before POST. It would get stuck on it, I reboot, this time it gives me the "preparing automatic repair" message on the Acer start logo, then a blackscreen after 20 seconds.

It appears that the computer switches between these 2 startups. Difference being one was stuck indefinitely, the other resulting in a black screen.

I troubleshoot shoot a bit, i eventually find my way to the culprit, the harddrive. I try to connect it to another system. At first, as the only drive, blackscreen, alright nothing wrong the actual laptop itself. Then i hook another harddrive on, trying to boot it from that. I get to the Windows loading bar, but a blackscreen after that.

Note I doubt it's mechanical as the harddrive is sounding completly normal when running and has always been. It's only 2-3 years old, anyways.

Any ideas/fixes? Is it dead?

I can post more info about the drive and systems used if needed

Many thanks. Hope it's not too much of a wall of text.

Yes, but the harddrive I was trying to boot from was native to that computer, I was not trying to boot from the laptop drive.
