Hello,
I bought a Radeon HD 6950 because it seemed the best performance at a budget price point. When I got it however I realized the card was physically very large. There's a cable on my motherboard that blocks it, I'm not sure what it does but I can't install the card without removing it. There's also back plates with no visible screws where the HDMI connections and such would come out, I can't figure out how those are removed. It looks like they're welded in one small spot on one side?
Here is my system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113273 I also installed 2x8 GB Corsair memory and that's working fine right now, replaced the 2 and 4 GB Kingsten it came with. It otherwise has the same specs listed there.
Is there any way I can make the card fit in my case without breaking something? I already did something off with the wiring and made it not power on at all until I fixed it so I'm very wary of going anywhere near the cabling again. I think I just knocked out a power cable. It's fine now after putting it back but still wary.
Edit: I don't have a camera so I can't take a picture. I can't find an inner case picture of this model either. The right side of the card where the HDMI connection and such would come out is blocked by the back plates. I'll attempt breaking them off and see if it works. The left though is blocked by a blue cable connecting the motherboard with the DVD drive. There's a power cable connected right below that on the motherboard. The video card also says I should connect power cables directly but I don't see any that would fit? For some reason it didn't come with an instruction manual or installation software even though I bought it new.
Edit again: So my cable is what connects the 2 USB 3.0 ports in front. So I guess I need this so it's physically lower? https://www.moddiy.com/product_images/q/268/USB_3.0_20-Pin_Internal_Header_Male_to_Female_Extension_Cable_%28Low_Profile_Connector%29__31904_zoom.jpg
