I have a full set of recovery disks for my toshiba satellite p775-s7100 but my hard drive is missing some files which would allow me to boot from them. Also some of my windows 7 files are gone & the recovery partition is gone. What to do? Plx help. ty

Contact Toshiba and order a new set of recovery discs. If you have data on the hard drive you don't want to lose and don't have backups for, get ahold of something like Linux Mint, burn it to a DVD, boot from it and copy your data to a flash drive.
You can download Linux Mint from here: https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php . You don't have to know anything about Linux because it has a user interface similar to Windows. And you don't have to install anything, just boot from the DVD and you'll be up and running in under 4 minutes.

Good luck.

Thx for replying but still confused. Matter-of-fact not sure using this thread correctly. lol I have already backed up what I want from the HD onto USB. My question now is why would my system boot up from new toshiba recovery discs and not from mine? I made them when I got the system. I want to scrub the HD and start fresh.

There are other replies & my answers to this problem. I am so confused & frustrated now bcuz I've so many different things. My recovery disks I made have data on them, I just can't get them to boot at start-up. I even went to c: prompt but my son has totally messed this laptop up. He made two partitions (deleted one of them later), took out hdd, put his in & put original one back in, deleted hdd files & changed operating system. Lost windows 7 home premium OA which was preloaded when bought. If I can't get system to boot on my dvd's, why would it work with dvd's from toshiba? Going crazy trying to fix this mess.
