Do the Razer Tiamat 7.1 work well with an ASUS Maximus VII Ranger onboard sound?

Pretty much that. I'm looking into a new pair of gaming headsets and I'm between those and the Krakens which are cheaper but have virtual surround and are USB instead of analog. I kinda like the Tiamat more but in a lot of places it is mentioned that you need either a discrete sound card for them to sound good or a really really good onboard sound. Do they place nice with this mobo?.

ASUS Maximus VII is basically one of the best choices for this headset in terms of on board sound. I don't think an external sound card will do much of a difference except if it's going to be very expensive maybe. It has 8 channel outputs and its drivers have a 7.1 digital surround option integrated. if you're not an audiophile and you want this for gaming the Razer Tiamat 7.1 is a very good choice.
