Is ASUS making a Strix 1070?

I'm disappointed that they used the same 3 fan design on this card like the Strix 1080.

I know it makes it easier as they just manufacture one design and replace the PCB but the power usage of the 1070 has gone down and the cooling seems to have gone up.

The 970 Strix only had 2 fans and it made the size of the card smaller which made it better suited to smaller form factor computers. This was the GPU I wanted but it doesn't fit in my case with 3 fans.

I agree most of the time 3 fans don't do much anyway, the gigbyte g1 970 for example with 3 fans was not much cooler if at all than the duel fan strix, msi, evga etc cards. Many people are still under the assumption bigger is better, im guessing thats why asus decided to make it bigger. I dont even think the 1080 needs a three fan cooler.
