Earlier today, I was working on my prebuilt iBuyPower system that I upgrded myself a while back. I was working on the cable management because it was so disorganized. When I got around to my sata cords, I disconnected them to tidy the cables up. After I put the whole system back together, the pc will no longer boot. It posts, detects the HDD and disc drive, then it takes me to a screen that says no boot device found. This is not a new HDD, as I have only had it since January of this year. I have tried multiple Sata cords, ports, and just about everything that I could think of. Here's what I observed: The pc will not detect either drive without power going to them so I doubt it's the PSU. I think I have narrowed it down to the HDD and the MOBO. Could someone please give me some insight on what to do at this point. I am out of options, so all suggestions are welcome. MOBO: MSI 760GMA-P34(fx) HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1Tb PSU: Antec High-Current Gamer 520w

Have you tried resetting your BIOS/UEFI? Other than that I'd strongly suggest that you check my previous post and run the tests on the drive, to see if what's the situation with it.

If you have that option, you could try a different drive with your computer and install Windows to it, to see if the same issue occurs afterwards.
Hey there, Quicksilv3r15.

This is pretty weird, especially if you haven't had any problems with the drive and your system before you've decided to clean up the case and tidy up the cables. I know you've tried the HDD with all the other SATA ports and cables, but if you have the option to try it out with a different computer as well, it would be great. This way, if it's recognized properly you'd be able to recover any files you might have left on it and test the drive for errors by downloading DLG (Data Lifeguard). Here's how to do that: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Please let me know how it goes.

I found a solution to this problem. I had to create a live copy of windows 10 on a usb flash drive, and reinstall windows. My HDD had completely locked itself for some odd reason. I never hit or damaged my HDD while my cables where unplugged, so I am unsure of what caused this issue. My PC runs as good as new, but I still have to go through the 2.2TB infinity screen to boot into the OS.

I got some random windows update today, and it fixed the problem. After I reset my HDD I lost all of my data, but no worries. It will be easy to get back. I am happy that my PC is working as good as new again now. It has around $1100 to $1200 in parts, so I am glad to not leave it to collect dust.

Well at least everything seems to be OK now. However, since the initial cause for the issue seems to have occurred after you've cleaned it, I'd still test the drive, just to be on the safe side.

It's always awful one someone loses his data, so I'd also recommend that you think of a backup solution at least for you most important information, which you can't replace, info such as: pictures, videos, documents, etc.

Good luck!
