My cpu is an amd a8 6600k and I monitor its temps using MSI afterburner. However, things are looking pretty weird as my temperatures at idle literally fluctuate like mad. My temps start at random numbers lang 68, 69 degrees celsius, then every second they go down to the 40s then after a couple of seconds they go up to the 50s then 60s again. My temps at idle usually stays at 68 degrees celsius, and I know that's bad, but for some reason when I play games, the temps don't go higher. The temps are literally stuck at 68 degrees. When I check speccy it says that my cpu temp is at 115 degrees celsius :| I'm not sure what is going on, so could someone please help me out. :(

It would be ok if you used your PC to browse the internet or using it to write documents and excel and PowerPoint (generally any office tool would be ok) but I don't recommend any intensive use like gaming or video editing or any thing of that kind of stuff and I recommend that you get a new CPU cooler
Try the cooler Mater Hyper212 EVO it the best in price to performance

It seems that the temperature probe in your CPU is going bananas!!
So try to see that temps in your BIOS just to make sure that is not a software issue then try getting a new CPU cooler as sitting at idle in 68 degrees Celsius is pretty bad especially when your maximum operating temperature is 74°C
The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is great and relatively cheap

so does this mean that speccy is inaccurate? :( will there be any signs if my cpu is actually overheating? because at the moment, despite those temperature readings, everything on my end is running perfectly fine...

i checked the bios and it did show that it really was running at 68°C and that's like where im stuck at now, whether im on load or idle. As for the fan, it seems to be running quite noisily. Any suggestions? :( and should I avoid using my pc until i can address the situation? or would be it okay to use it?
