I'm a bit confused right now since what happened recently makes no sense to me. Basically, I have have been purchasing 60mbps internet for awhile now, but it never seemed to exceed 30mbps. Recently, I installed a VPN, and it made my internet really slow, even after I turned it off, it made my internet go at about 10mbps for a few days, and yes, I tried unplugging and plugging in my router, that didn't help. Anyways, I turned the VPN back on yesterday, and while it was on, my internet was running slow as ever, but when I turned it off, my internet speed skyrocketed, it's now running at 65mbps, and I'm now able to watch youtube videos at 1080p without any buffer. Any idea how this happened?

Did you reboot the router at that time? If so, there's your answer.
Other option is that it's a coincidence and your ISP fixed the problem sometime around then.
