Hey guys,

I would like to start creating youtube videos but unfortunately I live in an apartment with people right next to our wall and beneath us.

I'm on the top story and would like to sound proof my room.

Would I be able to use sound proofing acoustic foam to put foam all on the wall with no gaps? I understand that acoustic foam doesn't block sound but absorbs it but could it work if its put on the walls with no gap?

Could I get plaster board and cover it over the walls?

Please help

Thankyou

There is one affordable option I can suggest. The main advantage of these acoustic blankets. is that you can quickly assemble as well as disassemble the whole thing at any time. They're of industrial grade quality, and are usually used around construction sites, so they should block or at least muffle pretty much any sound. Except for gunshots and explosions.
There's two types of "sound proofing", external and internal. What you want is to block external sounds, so a heavy acoustic foam with proper mounting is suggested. Try checking the avforum for instructions on proper mounting and suggested products for all price ranges

If you're interested in room-internal damping, take a look at levelcap's (youtube) setup for an idea of how to reduce reflected noise
