Then you can attach the new drive internally. You will need SATA + power cables.

Are you using a desktop or a laptop machine?
Most of the HDD manufacturers have their own cloning tools. Alternatively, you can use some third party ones as well.
You can just clone your old drive onto the new one, take the old one out and put the new one on its place. The cloning process would create exactly the same copy.
In case your new drive appears as not having it's full capacity, you need to go to Disk Management and allocate the unallocated space.

There a lot of cloning softwares: Macrium reflect, AOMEI, partition wizzards, clonezilla, easeus, etc.
