Hi,

I would like to put two xeon E5-2670 in the asus Z9PA-D8C motherboard however have the following question.

On the product page on the Asus website it is stated

Under the CPU title:
"2 x Socket 2011"
"Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family (135W)"

Under the I/O title:
"1 x PSU Power Connector (24-pin ATX power connector + 8-pin ATX 12V power connector)*2"

"*2: 95W or below CPU only,
Minimum requirement of ATX Power supply:
1) 500W 2) All +12V output ≧20A "

I am confused if the motherboard will support the two E5-2670 cpus or not?

If you could help, much appreciated

Solution
That CPU is on the CPU support list, so it supports those CPUs.

It means that if you are using a standard ATX power supply, you can only use CPUs up to 95W - yours are 115W. You need to use a special SSI PSU.

Ok, so as I now understand, the motherboard can take either one of the following two PSUs but not both at once:

1 x PSU Power Connector (24-pin ATX power connector + 8-pin ATX 12V power connector)
1 x PSU Power Connector (24-pin SSI power connector + 8-pin SSI 12V + 8-pin SSI 12V power connector)

To run the two xeon 2670s I will need the second option installed?
