Hey guy's,

I tried searching the forums and googling my question but everything I find compares the 1080 to the 980 ti at best.

I was wondering if I should upgrade my 980ti SLI to the 1080 gtx ?? I can use evga to "step-up" one of my 980ti's so there wouldn't be much of a lost and my buddy is willing to buy my other one. I'm just not sure if it's worth it in terms of performance ??

there's no point in you changing your setup until the 1080 TI comes out.

If I understand correctly you are considering trading in two GTX 980Ti's in SLI setup for a single GTX 1080? In general you would lose performance. If you want to take this performance hit is up to you.

GTX 980Ti in SLI more or less performs 170% if compared to a single GTX 980Ti. Since the 1080 is about 35% faster than a GTX 980Ti, you would in general be going from 170% to 135% performance. These numbers are not absolute and can vary, depending on game and setup that you are using. But I would not recommend it, you would lose performance.
