Hey guys, I currently have 2 fans connected one arctic cooling f12 tc (3-pin) and one stock fan that came with my case (corsair carbide spec - 01). I want to connect 2 more arctic cooling f12 tc fans however my mobo (asrock h97 anniversary) only has 2 chasis fan headers. So I'm thinking of buying 2 Y 3pin fan splitter. Question is will I be able to utilize the fans' temperature controlled rpm?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Short answer... no.

The third(usually yellow) wire is a speed sensing wire.
If you split such a fan, the speed sensing will get confused.
You can cut one of the speed sensing wires, but then both fans on the splitter will be controlled the same.

1. Do you really need the extra noise and expense of more fans. What are you trying to cool? Normally two 120mm intake fans is sufficient.

2. I find that a constant fan speed/noise is less annoying.

3. There are fan control adapters available if you really want to manage fans.
I think they are not much worth it.
