Best cpu for lga775

Solution
I've been googling a bit and found that acer veritron s480g does support Core2quad processors, so you can find any quad to upgrade your core2duo. And I found on one Russian website a selling advertisement of the same Acer veritron s480g with x5667 Xeon, so it can lead to that its possible to run a Xeon on your rig. It's really cheap, about 25-30$ for E5450 on eBay or Ali usually with free shipping. However variant to go with 1366 platform for around 200$ is great too.
I have a system running a Xeon X5460 (stock 3.16 GHz) currently clocked to 4.1 GHz.
If you dare to do a 771 socket mod than that should be the fastest chip possible.

If that would be to risky for you the basically unaffordable QX9775 should be the fastest.

For a reasonable price without modding every Core 2 up to the Q8400/9400 should be alright.

It depends on the motherboard you have. Name it, what model is it?

As I know e5450 Xeon is quite cool and have base clock of 3Mhz, and if you have good motherboard and aftermarket cooler, you can overclock it to 4Mgz or a bit less. X5460 is better in the part of stock clock and can be overclocked 4mhz and higher but again if you have good motherboard and good cooler, because this Xeon is much more hot than e5450.
Moving from Core2duo will show you improvements, but moving to at least second generation i5 will give you a lot more performance.

Anyway, look at EBay or Aliexpress, there are lot of these Xeons that already modded to fit your 775 socket. The only thing before installing Xeon is to watch your motherboard bios version, and find the last one mod bios to flash to your motherboard, so you can run Xeon. Not all motherboards can run Xeon at once, some need to be flashed.

Sorry for bad English.

Moving to a 1st gen i7 in Xeon version will give you a big boost in performance with a low investment. Even if everyone will say "oh, is just a first gen", a six core Xeon will be competitive in performance with any newer CPU at a fraction of the cost. Used systems go for $200 on eBay.

I just realized that i have shared the wrong pic. Il upload the mainboard photo. Sorry guys.
I have an acer veritron s480g.
E7600 @3.06ghz, 4gb ddr3, a gt 610..
Thanks for the support :D

not to say if it works or not , but being a prebuild like acer or hp there not like aftermarket custom boards like we use from asus gigabyte or asrock with a more open bios and all them prebuild can be very proprietary

for all you know asre may have a ''locked'' bios and only allow parts they put on it from the factory ? these days them chips and the kit for the mod are pretty cheap so its a buy and try ..

being a prebuild and being a out dated platform you don't have much going for you right out the gate .. you would be darn super lucky to get an nice vid card or memory to work on it as well . [I would not spend my hard earned money on it at all ]..opinion.... I would try the xeon mod as a fun to do project that's about it

good luck
