I have built many computers without issue, but this one is giving me fits. I just pulled the RAM to double check the compatible serial number for the ASUS 97-A USB 3.1 motherboard.

I have BLT4G3D1608DT1TX0.16FER2 and the motherboard manual states that compatibility is only with BLT4G3D1608DT1TX0.16FM(XMP)

Would this actually cause the issue? I have NEVER had this problem before, but I have also never used Ballistix. Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
try one ram stick and no gpu if you can get the mb to post try updating the bios. if your mb has the asus usb flashback use it to put the newest bios file on it. newer mb should only have issues if the ram is low voltage 1.3v if it 1.5v it should post.

Thank you and the solution has gotten me part of the way and now there is another weird issue. I removed the video card and one memory stick... first time all day I got to the initial screen where I could see I had the most recent version of BIOS, the processor info, etc. Shut off computer, added second memory stick, again, no problems and the computer was reading 8 GB of RAM. Then I noticed something. The video card is large and has a built-fan, it will not fit in PCI Express Slot #1 because there is a transistor in the way, so the video card was always being placed in PCI Express #2, leaving slot #1 open. I'm now guessing this is not allowed, similar to how memory sticks needs to be installed. Do you feel the same way?

If necessary, I'll buy a cheap sound card to fill slot #1, I had just planed to use audio provided by the motherboard.

Thanks again for your time.
