This is my first post...pretty new to all of this and computer building in general...
dont really know what you guys need to see but this is the setup..

Will my current setup work with the new 1080?

Mobo- ASRock H97M-ITX
PSU-Corsair CX500M
CPU- I5 4690k
RAM- Ballistix 16GB

Solution
Your Corsair CX PSU is marginal, but 500W is what Nvidia recommends as a minimum. The CPU should be strong enough to not have any bottleneck. Bottom line... you should be OK.

As long as you don't OC anything, your CX 500W will be fine. As long as the CX's capacitors last, that is. CXs have had a poor reputation in that area, but CXs I've built are still in service after several years. If you plan on doing any OC'ing of the card or the CPU or both, yes... upgrade to a better, bigger unit.

That's a big investment to simply move from a Haswell to a Skylake. There's not that much difference, even for VR. The gfx card makes most of the difference in that class of machine. I was more concerned about your PSU than your system. If you are going to upgrade the PSU, go with a better quality unit, like a Seasonic or an XFX.
