Hello,
I recently put together this pc build and I would like to know what you guys think about it. I don't not think I need that much of a motherboard but I heard it was a good one and do not know much about them. The monitor I am going with is the Asus ROG PG278Q which has ips, g-sync and a 144Hz refresh rate. Also, will I need two water blocks to cool the graphics cards?

thanks!

Solution
your build is ineffective on several points:
- overpriced MB
- faster than 2400Mhz DDR4 is not needed. and why not get 32 gigs, while you're at it. it's cheap
- a sata m.2 SSD will perform just like it's 2.5" variant. better keep that m.2 slot free for when NVMe SSD prices come down to reasonable levels
- no need for two old 980s. one GTX 1080 will do. only one because of my next point and because it will have no issues whatsoever driving this resolution
- for this kind of money, better get (arguably) the best gaming monitor ever made, no? even if you have to cut down the build. the monitor is a better investment: 21:9 1440p 100Hz IPS with G-Sync

CPU: Intel Core...
You are also tossing money at things you dont need to.
You dont need a WD Black drive, thats just stupidly priced. You dont want that M2 SSD, it performs worse than a standard 850 would, for double the price.

What are you going to be using this system for.

The most important point in all this is that monitor. Either get it or it's twin from Asus(literally teh same panel, features etc) the Asus ROG SWIFT PG348Q

If I may add my two cents, I'd agree with these recommendations, and the specific build recommended by Hlsgsz looks very nice.
100% agree that a big, beautiful monitor will be a very appreciated investment.
The only possible difference I'd consider would be waiting for the new Broadwell-e Core i7-6800K, roughly comparable to the 5820K you've spec'd here, that may be likely to run about $434.00, and there's no telling when it'll actually be released.
And whether it's worth the additional $60.00 remains to be seen, especially considering that you're over budget a little already.
That would be a very sweet build that'd probably provide several years of enjoyable use...
