Dell inspiron 5010 laptop Hard drive connection

Hi everyone I have a dell inspiron n5010 and have changed the motherboard,when i went to connect the hard drive the connection on the new motherboard was different than the old one.

all the same type connector but looks like your new motherboard is wrong part number(out of a different model number) or defective as the plug is turned incorrectly. return it as I don't see anything your going to be able to do unless that connector rotates which I doubt because I bet the new one is a different part number and is designed to have a hard drive cable between the mb and the hdd which wont work for you.

Also what make and model are the "before" and "after" motherboards?

I suspect that your hard drive connectivity has changed from IDE to SATA...

However need to see the photos to be sure. You can also google "IDE SATA Connectors" to find images and pinouts to compare what you had and now have.
