i have a quad core 3.5 ghz i5 asus with 4 slots of ddr3 with 4 2gb sticks how much ram can the computer handle through upgrad

Or just look on the specs listed on the homepage of the manufacturer of your motherboard.
There you shall find the specifications, including the supported amount of memory and supported CPUs.

But I assume you will be limited to 32 GB which will be 4x 8GB DDR3 (Due to a lack of 16 GB DDR3 modules)
