Which is better for me? GTX 1070 or 1080?

Dear Members,

I am looking to upgrade my GPU and want to get the 1070 or 1080. I'm upgrading from a 760. I am 37 years old, married with a 1 year old and have an active social life. I don't have LOTS of time to play games but want to have good performance when I do. I have a 1080p monitor and do NOT plan on upgrading to 4K until it's a little bit more mainstream and more GPUs can run games on 4K at higher frame rates. However, I AM possibly looking to get a Rift or Vive later on this year. With that being said, what do you think would be a better GPU? I like the 1070 because it's cheaper and I'll be able to play all the old, current and new games at 1080p with max settings well into the future. However, as VR evolves or if I upgrade to a 4K monitor, I won't be able to take as much advantage of those features with this card. The 1080 is the best card on the market and will allow me to not only play games at 1080p but will allow me good 4K play as well when I DO upgrade my monitor. Just not sure if it's good buy because I don't plan on buying a 4K monitor until they get down into the $350 range. By then, a new card (perhaps 1080ti) will be out by then and I'll have wasted money by buying a top of the line card and not taking advantage of its features right away. What do you guys think. FYI, I play shooters and games like Hitman and Tomb Raider on my PC. THX

Solution
GTX 1070. For sure. Even a GTX 970 will do for your needs :) 1080p gaming pretty much tops out at a 970. If you do upgrade a 1070 will still suffice by quite a lot for your needs.
