Sorry this is longer than the average post. Im just getting back into the game. I just finished a build with a Gigabyte LMT78-USB3 motherboard and AMD FX 6300. I noticed on boot that I couldn't get in the BIOS or do anything with my USB 2.0 keyboard and mouse. I dug up a ps/2 keyboard and used it to make the adjustments I needed in the BIOS. I was also having problems with the on board audio. I thought it was a driver issue so I went to Gigabyte's website and downloaded the most current drivers. Found the Realtek HD audio drivers but there are no drivers for USB 2.0. Just 3.0, which are working fine. Device Manager says the 2.0 are working. They are not. The BIOS is to date.

I have torn the system down and looked for physical signs of damage to the motherboard. It appears lawless. All the ports are on the rear I/O so it's not a wiring problem. If I plug in my wireless network adapter, the indicator light comes on but it's not that bright. Faint orange color and it's not recognized. If i plug in a USB drive nothing happens. Its not reconnized. I triple checked power to the board and all is fine. I really don't want to RMA this board as I don't have a backup to use in the meantime. So I am looking for possible solutions. If I can't find one, I'm just going to buy a better board and then RMA it and keep it as a back up. This is my 1st build in years and I wanted to stay under $600. With a Sapphire R9 380x 4gb Dual-X OC and a Team L5 240GB SSD + WD 1TB Blue, I went cheap on the MB. It had good reviews so i tossed it in the cart. With only 2 fan headers and over clocking the 6300 and the 380x I need more fans. Ya I could split them but with my Corsair Graphite Spec-02 and it's 6 fan mounts plus a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler splitting them wouldn't be enough and i wouldn't have full control of the fan speed. Any suggestions to fix it or suggestions for a better chipset (990x), more fan headers in ATX format under $100? Thanks.

for under $100 the 970a-ud3p mate.

doneloads of build with the 78lmt though & never had an issue with usb 2 ports, had more of an issue wiuth usb3 to get into bios until usb legacy mode is enabled.

you wont find any board with 6 fan headers though mate,4 at the most ( you seriously do not need any more than 2 intakes & an exhaust in the spec 02 anyway.
