My windows 10 64 bit computer with a creative sound blaster audigy FX sound card with a 5.1 surround sound set up isn't working like i'm expecting it to. It's outputting sound to all five speakers like a 5.1 system, but I think it's running in some kind of 2.1 virtual surround setup, despite the separate inputs for the different speakers. When I go into settings and send test signals to the center and rear speakers, they don't output any sound.

My question is how do I get windows to recognize the different speakers so I can run my system in proper 5.1 mode instead of the virtual surround it seems to be running in now?

1| Since you're on Windows 10, you should first disable automatic device drivers then uninstall your sound card drivers before reinstalling them.
2| Have you made sure your BIOS is up to date while you've downloaded the latest drivers found off of Creative's support site?
3| Have you also made sure you're installing your drivers under an elevated command?
Right click installer>Run as Administrator
You may need to try install the drivers in compatibility mode:
Right click Installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows 7/8 [from drop down menu]

If all the above have been performed with no success, you should find that Sound Manager should allow you to set up your audio output according to the number...

It'd help us if you could pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your audio equipment and connected peripherals.
