I'm not sure if this would be a GPU or Motherboard issue and was wondering what could be causing this to happen.

Randomly (happens more often when playing video games) my computer screen will shut off saying "No HDMI Output" and then it will go to a black screen. However, my computer is still running (the fan is really loud) and I can usually hear the sounds that were running on my computer before it occurs.

I'm assuming this is a graphics card issue, but how can I be certain that this isn't something else so I know what needs to be replaced. What are some tests that I can run that will confirm what hardware component is causing the issue?

EDIT: The computer is about 4 years old. Let me know if you need any more information. Specs are below:

- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

- Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz 32 °C

Solution
Usually is the GPU, or at times a driver issue. Try a full clean install of the drivers. Uninstall them with the display driver uninstaller (download it online), and clean install the drivers. Also, what are your full specs?

Updated main post with specs.

I'm installing the latest Nvidia driver right now, I'll let you know if I notice any changes.

Different ports then. First a different port on the GPU, then, if it persists, a different port on the monitor.

After updating the drivers everything seems to be working so far.
