Air vs Liquid Cooling

I currently have an Amd fx-6300. I'm looking to buy a cooler for this CPU that's is $70 or under. I've been reading a lot about cooling the CPU.

From what I've read the $30 to $40 air coolers are quieter and more effective than the liquid coolers.

I dont really plan on overclocking I'm just trying to keep my rig cool and quiet.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I also plan on upgrading to an fx-8350 in the next year or so.

If liquid cooling is done right it is normally quieter and performs better than most air coolers. There are both good air coolers and liquid coolers out there it all depends on what you get. In most cases a CM Hyper 212 Evo will suffice. Especially if your not overclocking.

Okay noe the evo or plus aren't need just the regular old cm hyper 212?

I'm just making sure. I also have a coupon to staples for $30 off of $60 so if it's the same price I'll be happy either way.

To my knowledge staples doesn't sell coolers, only some fans. I was referring to the Evo. The CM Hyper coolers come in both Evo or Plus model. The Evo performs a tiny bit better and the price is basically the exact same depending on where your shopping. I do not know what case you have, whether this is a stock system from hp, dell, etc. Make sure your case can fit the cooler.

Oh online they have a few decent coolers it looks like. But if the price is basically the same I'll take a look at the evo. Just hoping that my case should fit it. But thanks for your help I appreciate it. I'm heading in the right direction now.

No problem! Post on this thread if any more help is wanted. To check the compatibility of the cooler your can use a ruler to measure. Cooler master posts all dimensions on their webpage and you can measure within your case yourself. :)

Awesome. Will do. It's a vivo case they're pretty wide so well see. Cooler Master makes some low profile ones like the vortex it's getting similar reviews. But more research to be done.

Thanks again.
