This is the email I just now sent to their technical support. Just wondering if anyone here has encountered these issues with this motherboard: ASRock Z170M Pro4S

Specs:

Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

GeIL EVO POTENZA 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card

Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

I installed Windows 7 to my SSD via bootable flash drive, and I did patch the Windows 7 installer with ASrocks patcher before I installed it.

But flash drives and also my external usb optical disc drive aren't showing up on Windows. They show up in BIOS though.

My mouse and keyboard work fine with Windows 7 however (although I do have both Legacy USB Support and PS/2 Simulator enabled in BIOS, without these they don't work).

Under device manager I am also missing drivers with my new Windows 7 installation. It is my understanding that drivers such as Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller should be installed with the Motherboard disc.

But the next problem is that when I turn on the computer and boot directly to the Motherboard installation disc, I get this message:

Nero Boot Loader

Driver Disk Preparer v1.08

Model Name: Z170M Pro4S

This model is not supported!

Reboot system now
Press any key to continue . . .

Can you please tell me what this message means?

I don't know what to do now. I can't do anything with my new computer without functioning USB slots. I can't go online because I can't get the necessary drivers from the motherboard installation disc and I can't get the drivers from flash drives because Windows isn't showing the plugged in flash drives or the external usb disc drive.

why not make a small partition on the new ssd
take it out of pc
put it into other pc as a secondary drive
download/copy the drivers you are missing onto here (ethernet would probably do trick)
put ssd into new pc,
install drivers

as for the install DVD, I would download latest drivers and utilities from the Asrock site and see if they work.

I like this idea. I will have to get permission from my dad first though to use his computer. But what drivers do I need related to the USB ports? If I can get those USB ports working (making them accept flash drives and external disc drives) I can get everything else I need right?

I know I need the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller driver. Anything else I need to have?

Will I have to get this driver from the motherboard disc which I will put in the other computer, or do I just download it online from somewhere?

Thank you for your idea!

So I decided to forget about windows 7 (because I was not able to put my SSD into another computer) and instead installed windows 10, so I wouldn't have any compatibility issues at all. Well that worked, and now USB ports are working properly. I installed all the needed drivers from the motherboard cd. But I've run into a new problem...

My ethernet connection isn't working. I didn't buy a wireless networking card since I planned to use a wired ethernet connection to the router only. And my motherboard should support this.

But there is no connection. It simply says "unidentified network" when the ethernet cable is plugged in. I do have the necessary drivers for ethernet, so I'm trying to figure out now what the problem could be...

I did some research on my laptop and I found this thread. http://www.windows10forums.com/threads/limited-access-or-no-internet.922/

Someone suggested to the OP in that thread to post this:

"It would help if we knew which device it was.
Open device manager
Expand network adapters
Right click the problem Ethernet adapter and choose properties
Switch to the "Details" tab
Change the drop down to hardware ids
Select the top line in the Value box, right click it and choose copy.
Paste it here or into Google and see if we can't get it identified and find the proper driver. "

So in case this type of info will help you guys figure out my issue, I will post this info here.
