Hi all. My Toshiba 2.5 hdd keeps going to sleep after several minutes of inactivity. Out of all my portable external hard drives this is the only one that goes to sleep. How can I stop this happening? I've reformatted the drive in the hope that woul solve the problem, but it's still happening. I would be most grateful for any advise. Thank you.

The drive has a built-in sleep function in the firmware, formatting the drive obviously can't remove that.

Go ahead and give Phillip's suggestion a go it should do the trick. However if you keep having this issue, perhaps you might check your power options and change the current power plan settings. More specifically go to USB Settings -> USB Selective suspend setting and select "disabled".

Thanks guys. I downloaded the Toshiba sleep resetter but the program didn't recognise the hard drive. I'm getting a bit sleepy now, so I yhink I'll give it a miss for tonight and try again tomorrow thanks again Phillip Corcoran and Boogieman_WD.
