Overwatch: Will Blizzard Fix Their Server Lag/High Latency Issues?

Hi

I was playing Overwatch extensively last night and having fun with Tracer, I did rather well considering the lag I was getting.

In the game settings you can add a display monitor so you can view your connections and temps. The server ping was labelled RTS (I think) my ping was like 30-60 ( Also to note I get 60megs internet off Virgin media and the internet was fully working as I ran speedtest.com to check) while the servers kept going from 60-102 so sometime I would go in for the attack shoot some enemy heroes and kill them than use my E power to time travel back 3 seconds to escape, on my screen I had but then I just die and it shows me in the kill cam not using my power to escape. I have asked other people playing and some are getting this while some are not.

What is going on and will it ever me fixed?

From what I understand, Blizzards Overwatch servers are only processing at a 30 FPS rate, compared to most FPS that process at 60 FPS. That's likely what you're seeing.

Well the lag is getting rather annoying, I may have the odd game with lot lag but then there is a game where I will go round a corner then be push back round the corner lag wise or when I use a power happens then doesn't.

The "problem" is they are running at a tickrate of 20 which can cause problems with hitregistration.
For example CS:GO competetive runs at 64 tick and is still shit, while the CS:GO tournament servers run at 128 tick which is fine.
It's just not that noticable in a game like overwatch so it's not as bad as in CS:GO.

But your lag must be casued by something else.
I never had any laggs since the release of the game, so i can't really help though.

Well in the beta I never had any kind of issues at all while recently I have been getting lag, I rolled back my video driver before game ready driver and it has improved the lag a bit.

Does anyone know some way of fixing it? I have no issues with any other multiplayer games, I love overwatch and I just wish it was as smooth as the beta.

They need better server, a server browser would be nice.

Perhaps it'd be better to play when there's abit of a downtime on the server you're on. The less players on the server, the less lag you're going to get. It'd also help if you close or turn off any other programs or applications that could potentially slow down your computer.

Well I have been trying to play the game but I notice the RTT spike to 100+ when the lag happens (I practically die then).

The game is unplayable for me, I have tried contacting blizzard but the amount of hoops you have to jumps through to just sent a tech support ticket to them is just dum..

I tried playing on the American servers and yes my ping was like 120 but the thing is the RTT did not spike at all, I was dying from my high ping as people killed be first as they had a better ping.

There really is something wrong the Europe servers!
