Has this router ever worked in the past?

If it has, some cable and DSL modems "lock" onto the first device they see when turned on. If you were impatient after the power failure, and moved the cable from the modem to your PC to try to test the connection, it may have locked onto your PC. Move the cable back to the router's WAN port, turn off the modem, wait about 10-15 seconds, then turn it on again. Be patient this time - give it 5-10 minutes.

If it hasn't, you may need to contact your ISP. Sometimes they control the "lock" and need to reset the modem from their end. Other ISPs use a login procedure for a device to connect to their service (something like PPPoE). You or the service tech from the ISP probably set this up on your...

If it hasn't, you may need to contact your ISP. Sometimes they control the "lock" and need to reset the modem from their end. Other ISPs use a login procedure for a device to connect to their service (something like PPPoE). You or the service tech from the ISP probably set this up on your PC when you first got Internet service. But now that you have a router, it needs to be set up on the router before it can connect to your ISP. Usually the login info is written in the paperwork the ISP gave you when you first started service. If you've lost that, you will need to call your ISP for help.
