Hey,

Straight to the point, I had an aftermarket air cooler swapped to a Deepcool maelstorm 240t water cooling was on a huge sale.
So on the air cooler cpu would throttle at 65 degrees, after changing it, it started throttling and reducing its clocks down to 1.3ghz after 50 degrees, ran prime95 any idea why it lowered the throttle temps?? Running an FX8350 on a 990FX Extreme3 stock values.

That sounds unusual. I'm not sure, but perhaps the throttling could be due not to heat but to power draw. Your new cooler might be drawing more power. Or perhaps it could be that it was always throttling due to power/voltage. 65 is pretty low to be thermally throttling. Your new cooler is working to keep things much cooler, but it still power throttles-just at a lower temp.

I have no idea, why it would do that, no load temps are 29 degrees and under load is 44-45 degrees. Under very heavy load it goes to 51 and throttles. Before this new cooler, with the air one it throttled at 65 degrees. Any idea what can be the cause of the change? Can I manually set the throttle temps? Like CPU Advanced Configuration in BIOS has an option Thermal Throttle and it is set to Auto, it has a bunch of percentages not actual temps so Im afraid to not let it over heat, it has 12.5 25 37.5... and so on until 87.5% its all percentages.
