Will this CPU cooler fit my motherboard?

Hi guys,

I want to buy the CPU cooler "Cooler Master Blizzard T2". No worries, I do not want to overclock my CPU. I just want to use a better CPU cooler than the one given by intel for a decent price.

I have a 1151 socket ASUS motherboard. When I checked the specs of this CPU cooler from the website of Cooler Master, here:

http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/blizzard-t2/

I can see that this cooler will be able to fit the 1151 CPU Socket.

I contacted the retailer and asked him about the model number of the Cooler Master Blizzard T2 he has for sale. He told me that the model number is RR-T2-22FP-R1. This is exactly the same as the model number specified in the above link on the website of Cooler Master.

However, the retailer also told me that it is mentioned on the box that the Cooler Master Blizzard T2 fits the LGA sockets 1156, 1155 and 775. Nothing is mentioned about socket 1151! Please see picture below.

Do you think that it can still be compatible with my 1151 ASUS motherboard? Can I go ahead and buy it?

Any inputs would be most welcomed.

Regards

According to the official website it does:
Versatile all-in-one mounting solution for all common Intel and AMD platforms

http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/blizzard-t2/

If you click on specifications, it says:
Intel LGA 1156 / 1155 / 1151 / 1150 / 775
AMD FM2+ / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2

Thanks for replying Garilia.

Yeah, I know it says in the specs but the problem is that on the box, from the retailer with whom I am dealing with, nothing is mentioned about the socket 1151. Please see picture.

This is all very nice. However, the box clearly does not say anything about the 1151 socket, while mentioning that it is compatible with LGA sockets 1156, 1155 and 775.

What do you think about this?

If that bothers you, you have two options...see if they'll take it back opened, if for some reason it doesn't work (it will), even when it's smeared with thermal paste.

Or buy a different cooler.

pcpartpicker even shows that cooler being compatible with that socket. So if you don't trust the manufacturer's website, do you trust pcpartpicker more? or the fact that box has been sitting on a store shelf for awhile.

Thanks for your replies Garilia. I also searched on other parts of the net and many people say that the new 1151 socket has the same mounting as the previous 1150/1155/156 sockets.

Yes, I have used 1150 and 1151 sockets, and the same cooler works on both. Glad I could help.
