i was downloading something to my d drive (mass storage hard drive) while my computer basically froze. i had to force shut down by holding the power button. and then after turning it back on all my files etc lost their thumbnails and icons. when i download stuff now there is just a blank white piece of paper. any way to fix? i can still open files on my drive..

but i don't know what the file is without a thumbnail! i thought it was corrupted at first..

there is an example, that's how it is for every single file (even on my c drive too! and just found out my calculator icon has disappeared from the task bar but i can still click to open yet it remains invisible.

Solution
Hey there, Jordan.

Give this solution a go: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2635447. It might prove useful. Other than that, what's your OS?
You should also run a full scan with your antivirus program with updated database, to see if there are any threats on your drive.
If you've had issues with your HDD before or you think it might be experiencing problems now, it might be a wise idea to backup your important files before you do anything else.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
