AMD FX8300 Vs. FX8350?

So I'm building a gaming machine and I'm not to sure which CPU to go with either the FX8300 or 8350. I know that the 8350 has a stock speed of 4 GHz vs the 3.3 GHz stock on the 8300. I know I could just overclock the 8300 to get a better performance for the higher graphic demanding games or task. So basically is it really worth it for the extra money, or could I save that money and use it for a better graphics card considering that it will be used in a gaming machine?

For gaming, a Core i3 6100 is better than either FX CPU in most cases, and cheaper.

On Newegg, the i5 6500 is only $40 more than the FX-8350. It draws a lot less power, and so can be used with a cheaper motherboard, smaller power supply, fewer case fans, and is perfectly content with the stock cooler, often making it cheaper overall than an FX-8xxx system. On top of that, it's very significantly faster.

They are the same processor, the 8350 just runs at higher clock speeds from the factory, thus making it the "better performing" processor.
However, both are unlocked, and can be OCed to near identical levels anyway. So neither is better than the other.

If you dont already have a motherboard, I would not recommend either.

The only problem with intel i5 is that it is too expensive :(.

Wow well said, do you have any recommendations for motherboards for a i5 6500? Also should I buy a i5 6400 or a i5 6500? What are the differences? Is the i5 6500 more cost effective? Thanks for all of your help!

The i5 6500 is clocked a bit higher, and is generally recommended over the 6400.

Any socket 1151 motherboard will work perfectly fine with any 1151 CPU. H110 boards are limited to 2 RAM slots, whereas B150 and H170 boards get 4, and will often have more USB and SATA ports. If you don't think you need more RAM slots, go with an inexpensive ASRock H110 board. Otherwise, grab a B150 or H170 board that has connectors and ports that suit your needs.

ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI are my recommended brands.
