Hey i bought a thermalright macho rev b cooler for my skylake cpu. According to this link i should be able to get a free spacer that protects my cpu from bending: http://www.thermalright.com/html/products/accessories/1151support.html

The store i bought the cooler from said that i need to contact thermalright directly. Ive sent an email to thermalright three times already and they still wont answer after 8 days. I dont want to wait any longer. Will i damage my cpu if i dont use the spacer?

Solution
I would get the spacer with a large Air Cooler , so that you don't damage the CPU.

The substrate is just slightly thinner on Skylake CPU, get it to avoid damage.

It would probably be ok , but there is a small chance of damage.

I am in the same situation you were at the time. Did you ever get your spacer? Did the stock cooler from the old CPU work out for you short term? Thermalright sent me one, and it is currently stuck at my carrier as they 'lost' it after trying to deliver it to me.
