Upgrade to intel or new mobo?

Hello I have a problem I need help with.

I cant get good fps in any games. I have $180NZD atm (could sell some items and get $600) and I want to figure out what I should do.

I have an fx-8320 and an asrock 970 pro3 r2.0 mobo. This motherboard has terrible vrm cooling and 4+1 power phase..

I have a Zalman CNPS8900 which I believe is too weak to handle an fx-8320, combined with a shitty motherboard makes my cpu throttle everytime (with stock speeds). But my spec-01 case is a few mm shallow for any decent cooler.

I am wondering if I should invest any more in a new AMD motherboard, because I am extremely disappointed with my performance and I wonder if I got a new motherboard, case and cooler I would have good performance. Or should I save for a new case, Skylake cpu, mobo and cooler.

For a decent new mobo and case = 360-400nzd

All I want is good performance in is csgo so I can get 144hz monitor. Currently I dip below 100fps (1024x768) which is unacceptable. I have a 280x, and I have same fps on 1080p and 800x600 so it is cpu bottleneck.

According to this, your motherboard is not fit for a FX-8xxx:

Today, I would not invest in a FX processor or a amd motherboard upgrade.
The single thread passmark rating of a FX-8320 is 1396. That is what games need most.
Few games can make use of more than 2-3 of your 8 cores.

A top i5-6600K is probably outside of your budget.

I might suggest a skylake $125 i3-6100 with a single thread rating of 2102.
A lga1151 motherboard will be about $100 with a z170 chipset that can handle a future 6600K upgrade.
8 gb of ddr4 ram will be about $50.

There is a new series of motherboards from asrock that will permit non K overclocking. It might pay to look into...

Do you think it will be worth it when I am just playing CSGO? I really want a 144hz monitor ($550) and I can't get a job and I am 15. I just want to check that I wont still get terrible performance with a good mobo, because I don't think I can afford intel but I will wait if I will still get bad FPS with amd >.<

Its a sapphire trix 280x and it comes factory oc'd I believe.

Core is at 1100
Memory: 1500

I tried oc a bit a while ago but I think I crashed a couple times so I just reset it.

I have two intake fans at front, one exhaust above cpu and one intake at rear because its best way I can get air on vrm.

I could definately upgrade to an i5 6400 if I could sell my stuff on trademe for good prices.

Do you think I could sell these parts easy for these prices?

FX-8320/Mobo: $200 (retail $355)
Spec-01: $60 (retail $94)
Ram: $50 (retail $75)

That would give me ~$360. Then I would have $540

i5 6400 -$300
Motherboard: ~$160
Case: ~150
Ram: ~$80

Around $700, so I could cash out some csgo items for the extra $200

Sound like a good plan?

Any good suggestions for a case? I just want to get a good case so I don't have to upgrade it for a long time :)

Also for mobo out of this list what would be best?

I am thinking this one but I don't know if I should get a cheaper one. I could OC pretty good on this board in the future if I upgrade cpu right?

No, you'd need a Z170 board to overclock in the future.

Cases are largely for looks since most any will do.
If you have the funds, by all means look for one that appeals to you.
You will be using it for a long time. I like the spec-01 case. Why is it a problem?

skylake 14nm will run fine on the stock intel cooler.
Your cnps8900 will handle even a overclocked 6600K
