Hey guys and gals,

My wife has done something to her Samsung Galaxy S5 and I am at a loss on how to fix this. I have to give a little background on what has happened which will hopefully point everyone in the right direction.

To start, she bought a memory card to give her 32gb of extra space because she kept running out with the standard 16 gb which came on her phone. However, the phone has not been recognizing said card I don't believe because she is still constantly running out of space. (this separate problem was never resolved)

After much frustration, she went to the AT&T store where (according to her) the guy said she had too many apps and needed to delete them and move them to the SD card. So, she moved a bunch of the apps to the SD card, but then went into the storage on her phone and started deleting apps that she wasn't familiar with the origin of or wasn't sure what they were.

I don't know this for a fact, but I am afraid she has mistakenly deleted some crucial application on her phone which controls the phones charging. If anyone can shed ANY light on this you will be my (and my wife's) hero. Thank you big time in advance.

P.S. I have tried other micro usb cords plugged into my PC to rule out her charger being bad. Each micro usb cord will not charge the phone.

Solution
Unless her phone is rooted, I doubt she deleted any system critical apps. One of the benefits of the S5 is a replaceable battery. A replacement shouldn't be too expensive. I DO recommend getting a genuine Samsung battery.

"rooted" is having root (system admin) privilege. On phones and tablets, a normal user doesn't have permission to delete system files. You have to become "root" to do that. It takes specific steps to make a phone rooted. If you are not familiar with the term, then you aren't rooted.

Every Samsung phone that I have owned had bad battery ports eventually. Currently I am on the S5, but can't use the charging port. I have 2 batteries, a wall charger for them, and swap them out daily. The part costs $10, with YouTube videos showing how to fix it. I'm hesitant. The store will replace it for $100. The ports seem to be the first thing to go on these phones.
