I have a WD blue 1tb and it makes the usual light disk platter noise when r/w so im not worried about that. but when it first boots it makes a sort of louder, more punctuated version of that 2 times and then it fades and never ever clicks or makes unusual noises for the rest of operation. tested with WD disk tester on extended test and it turned up green. not sure what to make of it. works absolutely fine and very quickly. about 6 months old and AFAIK it has been making this since day one i just had much louder fans in my old case.

Hey there, Darkfire_5!

I believe that these hard clicks during startup are normal. They appear usually during a head park operation like (shutdown or sleep mode as well). However, it's always recommended to keep track of the WD Blue and make sure that the noises it makes are normal.

Once you have established that, doing regular backups of your data and keeping a copy of it somewhere off-site is also a wise solution to keep your files safe and sound.

Hope this helps you. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the reply, I won't worry much about backups because all that I could lose is game saves and I keep my own occasional backups of those.
