Hello friends,
I have a Silicon Power S60 240gb SSD...I would like to know how to clone an SSD? what does it even mean? and Do I have to clone my SSD for it to work or will my SSD work even if I don't clone it? This maybe a basic topic but am very new to PC building and I want to know everything before I start building my PC now...

Hey there, _Whitedragon_!

Since you are building a new PC, cloning the SSD is not an option for you. The disk cloning is a process of copying the contents from your old drive to a new one by doing an exact replicate of your files together with the operating system. This is usually done when you upgrade the primary storage of your current computer, for example. Since the operating system communicates with the motherboard itself and it's tied to it, using a different drive doesn't affect it. Unlike standard copying functions, the cloning or migrating process transfers even hidden system files that require you to have a specific cloning software. This is something that cannot be performed by simply copy-pasting all your files...

However, as I already mentioned, this is something that shouldn't concern you since you are building a new PC. You simply need to physically install & set up the SSD in your rig and then clean install a new genuine Windows Installation.
If you have a secondary hard drive for your data, make sure you leave it unplugged until the installation of the OS is completed on the SSD. Otherwise, you might encounter an OS confusion. Here's a detailed step-by-step tutorial that might shed some light on the whole OS and storage optimization.

Good luck! Let me know if you have more questions! :)
