Just happened a few minutes ago. I went to sleep after leaving my computer on as I usually do and then I wake up at 4 am hearing this extremely loud rattling/grinding noise. I thought it was in my room but then I notice it's n Thing in here. I walk out into the hallway and find its coming straight from my computer. I go to shut it off and I notice that the sound is coming from the left side where all the componants are except the hard drive. This sound was around 90 decibels loud. Anyone got an idea what it is?

Hi there funnyman850,

Just open up the computer case and try to localize the sound. It could be a fan.
Anyway, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on the drive.

Could you record that sound?

Let us know how this goes,

Okay so I restarted the computer and I heard and saw no problems with it. I have a feeling this is not the end of it. If it helps it sounded like hard drive usage a little bit higher in tone and like 100 times louder. Enough to wake me up. It also sounded a little like all the fans were at full usage but that usually makes another sound in my comouter. It was closer to a car being floored on neutral and not letting go.
