ok first of all sorry for that mess of a title second yes I have gone through the checklist and worked through it. so I just built this pc and I'm having some issues with it. my mobo has an led for the cpu and an led for the ram the problem is I'm not sure if the cpu led lighting up means it works or not but I know the ram led lighting up continously (not blinking) means the ram isn't working in which case the mobo guide tells you to press a button labeled "MemOK!" so it can fine tune the memory to work when it does this the ram led starts to blink, it preforms test by test and after each test it reboots the pc and if the ram works it boots normally if not it performs the next test while having the ram led light blink faster, eventually after it went through every test and ram doesn't work (ehich is what happens to me) it just reboots with the ram led being light continously. so my problem is that when I boot my pc the cpu led lights up for a second but then is quickly turned of as the ram led turns on and when I press the MemOK! after every reboot the cpu led lights up for a second but then gets turned off as the ram led starts blinking after it did every test and it does the last reboot the cpu led again lights up for a second but gets turned off as the ram led lights up continously again. so I'm not sure right now if my ram is the issue or if it's the cpu or both. I'm concerned about the cpu because I'm honestly paranoid that one of the pins is bent so I took very close up pictures of as many pins as I could if you want to look at them here's the link. http://imgur.com/a/QM0uk.

thanks but my system won't even go past post I just get no video signal. I might rma the ram but I don't know if it's the ram or the mobo so I'll wait and see.

I don't know on the new asus boards but my old asus cpu memory and graphics cad slots each had a red light if there was a issue with one of them the red light would light up if no issue they were off or not lite up

if me I would set back to default and use one stick of memory and test each slot one at a time then the same with the next stick then with 2 sticks

now sometimes you got to seat the memory in there slots just right and it can be easy to not have them seat properly even if they seem locked in place may not still have good contact in the slots

your socket pins look good except for one maybe how the pic was took ?? from 2ed and 3ed pic from bottom looks like one maybe leaning over to the side and contacting the one beside it ??

re take that from another angle that one was the only one I thought suspect if you feel the same on that just straighten it back in line as the rest are [no real big deal just do it carefully ]

maybe some one with better eyes will pop in and take a look to see

yeah I already did the memory test on each stick and it doesn't work. as for the pins I'm assuming you're talking about this one https://i.imgur.com/YPM6vz3.webp in which case would new egg rma that because of the bent pin? because I still have about 7 days to open an rma request. I'm not home right now so I will retake it in about 3 maybe 4 hours

'' would new egg rma that because of the bent pin''

bent pins are considered end user abuse / damage and rma will be turned down 99% of the time if not 100% [motherboard rma's don't go well for the most part ] then I would not even tell them any of that lie about something more safe and they may accept it [??]

I never had to rma a mother board thinking I was going to be satisfied just once for fun to see how I got treated and that was through the manufacture [asus] and it was not fun and got a ''referb'' board back that I don't think was even looked at just some ones else's junk board they just boxed up and just sent to me in the hopes I would get it going , what a joke .

maybe different for you ?? who knows

your image link don't open but its coming as a download I cant take strange downloads like that [cant risk a virus attached ]

just take a sharp thin knife or razor blade and push it back in place carefully

I seem a lot worse bent pins get fixed and theres a lot of stuff online to see on it as well on how to fix bent pins

fair enough if it came up as a download I wouldn't download it either, I'll try to bend it back in place. but I still have that memory issue, I'll try talk to asus about it but I don't know

if it is bent over and contacting the pin next to it or just bent to where its not contacting the cpu proper that could be all the reason for your issues

try to fit it and get it right retry may work fine after that at least its not like you got 10 or 20 pins bent to fool with so with that your still in good shape for now [opinion]

give it a shot and check back with a conclusion - no hurry take your time and do it carefully and right

alright i took a better look at it the pins were fine and i tried all the ram tests but nothing worked. i tried putting the ram from a prebuilt into the motherboard but that didn't work either. however when i put the ram i purchased into the prebuilt it works fine so the problem isn't with the ram. i issued the rma and im gonna send this mobo back.

well looking around his issue seen to be real common yours may be just down to bad luck [ well all get that at some time ]

me I just assume do a nice haswell its tried and true and stable a little bird told me to just skip this skylake and do the old wait and see I was not too impressed from the get go and reminded me of intel 775 with all that split ddr3/ddr3 memory controller [ maybe where these issues come from a weak / bad memory controller ]

who knows ? I hope you the best of luck on your next go round

yeah I don't know that much about computers as this is my first build so since skylake was newer and around the same price as haswell I just go it. a bit too late to go back now since I already bought everything. thanks for the help though it's very appreciated!

well I was getting at skylake is a new fresh platform as is ddr4 a new memory and all so it maybe growing pains . that's the thing with jumping on ''first release'' things your the guinea pig beta tester and why I say I would skip it and do the wait and see on how it does work out . like I said its kinda untried fresh and new .. that's not to say you cant get the lemon build with a haswell , anit like I never got a bad build . just looking up your and that guys issue seems there maybe something up on this skylake and the memory and asus seems to be hit the hardest for some reason just looking it around ?

even guys with say more experience then you run in to these things with them so don't feel too bad just you got unlucky may rma or what ever and the next one goes as expected with out issue and then alls good ??

best of luck
