Title says it. Do you think it's worth? Would going from Sandybridge E to Broadwell E net me much? I have a 3930k right now, I'd likely get the 6850k. I have a 980 but have plans on getting the 1080ti later this year. My 3930k has been at 5gz stable for the last four years, I'll likely upgrade my loop a little when moving to Broadwell E as I hear it gets insanely hot under overclocking. Would it be better to wait for Skylake E as Broadwell E seems like a flop? The only reason I'm considering moving to Broadwell is because my RAM is on it's way out the door and I've been getting crashes lately. Which out of the new motherboards looks the most promising? I'd prefer to stay away from Asus.

Can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of what you do with it? Depending on your profession or intended use you could just pull it off with your X79 platform. Though in hindisght, the prices of DDR3 are almost dirt cheap for some crazy speeds/frequency's.

I'd say you're not going to miss out much if you're gaming. You can hold off with the new DDR3 purchase and the GTX1080 provided your PSU and the rest are up to par.
