Z87-Pro + Intel 750 PCIe SSD + Windows 10?

I'm trying to determine if my Asus Z87-Pro can support booting into Windows 10 (64) from an Intel 750 PCIe SSD 1.2TB. Any one have first hand experience at doing this?

While some websites says Z87 is impossible to boot from using the this SSD, I did notice my BIOS has a CSM (Compatibility Support Module), which specifically lists PCIe modules as bootable.

I also came across this article which lists the Asus Z87-Deluxe being bootable with Windows 8 using the CSM mode: nvme_boot_guide_332098001us.pdf

Anyone have any help that's not speculation or guesswork, based on real tests?

"use it" = boot from it. seems like it's maybe doable but might include some bios modification.

you're asking a very specific question, so please excuse my guess work. i just don't see it likely that too many people on here have experience trying to get a $1000 ssd working with a z87 motherboard.

if it an NVMe SSD then you will not be able to use it. i believe that drive is an NVMe and iirc there arent any z87 boards that support NVMe. they may have a bios update that would support it but as it stands its probably only AHCI currently. i would look into seeing if you're able to add it some how with a bios update er somethin'. i may not have told you anything you don't already know...havent looked into this in a while.

What do you mean by "use it". Supposedly, it will run as a spare drive for sure. The CSM mode may even allow me to boot from it. Of course speeds are not going to be as fast. Either way, looking for some real-world help rather than just guesswork. In particular, does the CSM mode allow booting?
