I just purchased a new ASUS GL502VT laptop. It is has very high ping and jitter (200ms for both) while multiple other computers on the same network have around 40 ping 3 jitter [according to pingtest.net].

The strange part is that when i run a pingtest batch file that pings google.com, it says the ping is still around 20-30.

I used slimdrivers to update my drivers and ccleaner to clear registry, as well as exited programs like dropbox and google drive, but nothing seems to fix it. I do get times where the ping drops, but it seems very sporadic.

thanks.

First thing about this, you ALWAYS want to use manufacture drivers if possible. So, first thing I would do is download the proper network drivers, uninstall the ones you downloaded and install the ASUS ones.

For your ping testing, were you testing this via wireless or direct connection? What are your bandwidth speeds?

Pinging a server ~50 miles away on pingtest.net, but the router is right next to my laptop, same room. Signal strength strong.

Got the original drivers installed, ping dropped. Still had high ping playing Overwatch but found a battle.net thread that says that a program called Asus Gameready messes with ping so I uninstalled that and now my ping is fixed :)

thanks for your help.
