I have my i5 4670K currentlyoverclocked to 4.4ghz at a 1.23 voltage. When stress testing with aida64 the maximum temp my cores reach is 75C and they average 65C during the test. Is this safe? Can I game without being worried with these numbers? My heatsink is a Noctua NH-D14, and my motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth Z97.

Intel's shutdown temperature for that CPU is 130c, and it does not throttle until 100c. Mobile Intel CPUs (which are the same physical chip) are known to run close to 100c virtually indefinitely, and I have never heard of one dying.

Food for thought: You can't compare the temperature readings from one CPU architecture to another. The temperature sensor on an Intel Core CPU is closer to the hottest parts of the CPU than on older Intel CPUs or AMD CPUs, which means that a reading of "75c" on your CPU might actually correspond to lower temperatures than 45-50c on an FX chip.

Your Fine most modern chips will shutdown well before "maximum safe" (about 200F on most chips) 75C is pretty normal for a stressed CPU that isnt even overheating.

PS: :p if your CPU is IDLING @ 75C its time to worry.
