Dear Community,

I have been getting random hard freezes requiring restart, exclusively in games, ever since upgrading to a GTX 970 on my Windows 10 SSD (clean install) system. I have tried numerous Nvidia drivers. Some games have no freezes (Dark souls and Dark souls 2), while other games have freezes at any time and sometimes even before I get to the title screen (Overwatch). It is completely random as sometimes the games will crash just 10 seconds after I load my game (Witcher 3 or Fallout 4). I have checked temps across gpu/cpu/mobo and no problems there. I have double-checked the BIOS to make sure there is no OC. I have checked the event viewer and cannot find anything other than the critical warnings for not having shut down properly.

I know that Windows 10 and Nvidia have a bad rap lately for incompatibility and I have been trolling forums for any possible solution, finally writing now in the hopes that somebody will know or recognize something.
