So I decided to actually try my hand at building a PC for the first time and well, the CPU Cooler installation was a bit nerve racking. I screwed up the first time, had to wipe off the paste and redid it, then when screwing the cooler down, I noticed one of the mounting screws wasn't fully in, so I tightened it as best I could (but not too much for fear of damaging the motherboard), etc...

I've been monitoring the temps for a few days now and I'm a bit confused by the temperature differences between cores. Some people say it's normal, some say no, by looking at other 6600k temps, there do seem to be temp differences but I just thought I'd verify.

Average Room Temp is 25.5C (78F)

Anyways:

During Idle I get:

Core #0: ~24C
Core #1: ~26C
Core #2: ~22C
Core #3: ~22C

During Gaming I get:

Core #0: ~39C
Core #1: ~40C
Core #2: ~34C
Core #3: ~36C

With Prime95 Stress I get:

Core #0: ~52C
Core #1: ~51C
Core #2: ~45C
Core #3: ~46C

Are these temperature differences/ranges normal? Particularly the large differences between the first two and last two cores? Can I put my mind at ease that the CPU cooler was likely installed correctly?

Hello... Yes... Good JoB !!! Some cores will not be working as hard as the others, the Thermal Paste is still moving under heat and pressure... also depends on the programing of the APP. Check your mounting screw tightness after another week.
Go have some FUN B )

Corsair 200R Case and a GTX 660 Graphics card (EVGA with Blower Fan so it runs hot) while I'm waiting for the 1070 to come out. Also yeah, the temps lower than the room temp have me a bit perplexed, perhaps the sensor just isn't too accurate!

Hello... 1) What is your CPU fan profile? it could be you have one running the CPU fan at high speed at idle... look in your BIO's.
2)You are very close to ambient that I would not suspect a sensor problem.
3) Using a external exhaust video Card is very helpful for keeping these system temps so Low... I prefer them myself for these very reasons.
4) You could have got the "Golden TICKET" in the silicon lottery and have an OC record breaker CPU. B )
