So I cant get my Mushkin SSD to show in the Disk Manager so I can partition or format it etc. It shows in device manager under disk drives, and says that it is "working properly". Note that I am trying to install this as my secondary SSD. I have a primary SSD working fine right now and am not trying to replace it. So right now I cannot use my SSD because I cant figure out how to get it to read. Any advice on how to get my PC to read the disk. I am using Windows 10.

Solution

The 500GB Samsung would be Disk 0. 465.76GB
A 512GB drive would show as 476GB.

What happens if you disconnect the Mushkin, and open Disk Management again?
I'm betting the Disk 2 disappears.

I see 3 physical drives
Disk 0 - 500GB (465GB) Samsung
Disk 1 - 1TB (931GB) HDD?
Disk 2 - 512GB (476GB) Unallocated.
Hey there, Preacherauron.

Try the SSD with a different SATA port and different SATA cables to see if the same thing happens. It would be even better if you could try it with a different computer as well. You should also try updating/resetting your BIOS/UEFI, to see if this helps. Another thing you could try is to check the SSD manufacturer's website for firmware updates for that drive model.
You could also download an SSD diagnostic tool to see if it recognizes the drive so that you can test it for errors.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Thanks yeah I should have included the few things I have tried already. I did try using different sata and power cables, in fact I unplugged my secondary Harddrive that I know is working and used those. So I know the wires were good. I did download the manufacturer program that is supposed to recognize if their products are connected and it didnt find the product. I thought that could be because the computer is basically hiding it. Like it shows up under disk drives when I open device manager, so I know the PC is at least reading it well enough to know what type of device it is, but when I open just about anything else, those programs aren't recognizing it is plugged in . And I think for me to download the firmware I have to figure out how to get it to where the diagnostic tool will find it first. I have yet to update the bios. I will try that next. Though I also dont want to screw anything up while playing around with that. lol

Can you post a screencap of your Disk Management window, with the SSD connected?

From your second pic, Disk Management.

Disk 2. May we assume you have a 512GB Mushkin SSD?

Yes. Right click on that "Unallocated" space.
What options does it give you?

The case of a drive showing in the BIOS and Device Manager, and not showing in Disk Management is incredibly rare.

Turns out I was stupid and didnt put disk management into full screen.. so it was only showing me disk 1 and 0 ... only after I made the window larger for a screen cap was I able to see the extra disk. Thanks for walking me through it though. I shall now hide in shame lol.
