My computer got infected with some form of malware (pop ups everywhere on desktop) just decided to reformat my computer because i hadnt in a while anyways. Now i have reformatted windows 7 ultimate over windows 7 ultimate before and havent had any issues but i recently reburnt the usb to install windows 7 over windows 8 for a friends computer.

So i plugged my usb in and tried to reformat and got all the way to where i format the drives and shit but it wouldnt let me because i forgot i had burnt differnet files for win 8 to win 7 for my friends computer. I had already formatted the hard drive by the time i realised i couldnt do it.

I get this “0xc000000f – The Boot Selection Failed Because A Required Device Is Inaccessible“, assuming because i formatted the hard drive, when i try to boot the pc.

So i got on another computer and downloaded a window 7 ultimate iso off kickass and burnt it to the usb using rufus (mbr partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI-CSM, FAT32) and then plugged it back into my computer and whenever i boot to it, it just goes to a black screen then back to bios very quick.

My motherboard is asrock z87 extreme 3.

Secure boot is disabled, not sure whether CSM should be disabled or enabled.

Thanks

Use the Microsoft USB disk utility to make the bootable disk off the ISO. Make sure you are in a USB 2 not a 3 port, does it boot to the setup then?

All i remember is that you had to change something so you could downgrade from windows 10 to 7 (not 8 sorry), i know that i may be doing something wrong this time around because i have reformatted my computer 3 or 4 times with the same usb and computer.

just tried the USB again, clicked on it in the boot menu, gave me the “0xc000000f – The Boot Selection Failed Because A Required Device Is Inaccessible“ then i tried it again and it said "Invalid system disk, replace the disk and press any key". Does that mean the files on the usb are faulty?

Just downloaded a win 7 repair disc iso and burnt it to a usb, repaired the computer option and followed some of the cmd intructions on that page and then tried to boot win 7 again and it didnt work :(

Since the SSD is empty just do a regular install (not repair) but make a bootable usb with microsoft's usb tool. I found that many tools for bootable usbs don't work correctly with windows.
