Can I please get some input on my gaming setup if it's a good setup or is there anything I should add or change for gaming???
Is this considered a low, medium or high range setup and what can I expect from this setup (fps, graphics, performance etc..)???
Here's what I have so far;

#1. Alienware 17 laptop w/core i7 6700 HQ processor, Dedicated Geforce Gtx 970 graphics card, 128 gb ssd for startup and 1tb ssd storage (I replaced the 1tb hdd), 8gb memory, 4k resolution with windows 10

#2. External Alienware Graphics Amplifier w/PNY Geforce Gtx 980 graphics card (The Amplifier over rides the internal card when plugged in as a dedicated card)

#3. External 2tb hdd drive

#4. External DVD/CD rewriter (Which I know doesn't matter for gaming)

#5. Razer mamba mouse

#6. Razer Blackwidow keyboard

#7. Dell S2716DG 27 inch monitor that supports 4k resolution (2560×1440), 1ms response, 144 hz, and G-Sync

#8. Logitech Sound blaster surround sound speakers

#9. Insignia 4 port 3.0 USB hub

Well this is my setup as of now, my intentions are to simulate a desktop environment with the option to carry my laptop on the go. I have limited things plugged into the laptop in order to unplug fast and go.
Any inputs, suggestions, changes or additions are encouraged, even negative feedback with an explanation will be helpful.

Thanks,

The big issue I see apart from the extreme cost over a desktop which would perform significantly better is it looks like you want to game at 4k. A single 980 is really not strong enough for modern games at 4k, even a 980Ti does a mediocre job. The new 1080 looks respectable but not spectacular on it's own, for high end 4k your really needing an sli desktop setup.

Well to be fair if it were up to me I would've just purchased a cheap decent laptop and then a desktop and that would've saved me some money and given me more options to upgrade in the future. But if this is how your boat float then why not :p. Also you might want to look for a larger ssd in the near future because 128 gb is really small even if you try to not put anything on it. Trust me it will get full within a year.

Yea the laptop was rather pricy, I just don't have the experience or confidence yet to build a desktop, plus I wanted something I could carry on the go if needed. I do plan on upgrading the 128 ssd just haven't done it yet...

Building a pc is like playing with lego's if it sits it fits. Also if you ever plan on getting a new laptop or so avoid the "gamer brands" usually the generic or bare bones laptops have better value. I got myself a clevo laptop and could choose all the parts that I needed and ended up saving 500 € without sacrificing quality.

Yea I kind of realize now that getting an off brand would have given me more play plus saved me alot of money and I've noticed that most manufactures use the same parts so basically the only difference is the shell or case or tower...

Well im not necessarily looking for 4k gaming although it sounds nice, my goal is to be able to play any high end demanding game without lag and at descent fps.
Also what is an sli setup?
