Hello, i recently puchased a Samsung 850 EVO 500gb and was wondering if there is any way i can move my windows 10 operating system from the drive to the SSD. If i lose my personal files it is okay.

For windows 10 you don't need a CD key.
It's part of Microsoft's new CD key/computer hardware tracking system.

I had upgraded from windows 7 to 10 before I made the SSD replacement. Did a fresh install of windows 10. When it came time for a CD key I used the windows 7 key and it worked fine. Google it. Your windows 7 or windows 8 key will work if you've upgraded from either one.

Actually even "simpler" is the following. Samsung provides free cloning software and In my experience it has worked flawlessly.

If its a PC not a laptop then you can install the new SSD into the PC, boot up, clone the old drive to the SSD, shotdown, disconnect the old drive, then boot back up. I would hold onto the old drive(outside the case in storage) for a few weeks, if no issues then you can format or whatever you want to with the old one.
